Viewing Notes
This was one of Keaton’s “lost films” (apparently lost for 60 years and still missing 3 minutes of the finale, according to the introduction). He loses his girl then tries a few ways to kill himself unsuccessfully of course until he gets hired by a zoo to find a rare armadillo (like those are rare!!) yet somehow reunites with his girl only to lose her in the end when jumps from the high dive, misses the pool, crashes into the earth then shows up a few years later w/a Chinese wife and 2 kids (this last bit is what is still “lost” as the movie ends at the high dive jump then finishes with a still image of Keaton and his Chinese family.

It’s on Buster Keaton Collection Vol 1 if you go for the DVD or streaming via Hoopla or Kanopy. I’m sure it’s on Youtube. Quality is rough throughout but very watchable. Sad that the ending is missing. Keaton noted that it got his biggest laugh ever.
