Viewing Notes

Another one of the short films produced by BMW to promote the brand. This one borrows the old mythical tale of Robert Johnson selling his soul to the Devil to become a great musician. Here it’s James Brown. The spin is that his driver has to race the Devil and beat him in order for Brown to get his youth restored. It’s quite amusing b/c Gary Oldman is the Devil and really hamming it up (such a contrast from seeing him recently in the Dark Knight trilogy but more along the lines of his LEON role). It’s all fine and entertaining but what really floored me is Marilyn Manson appearing. That was funny!

Funny, I’ve been thinking about rewatching these mainly for the Frankenheimer one. Forgot Tony Scott did one too.

Yeah that Frankenheimer one is pretty good, too. It just kinda blows my mind that these were made so long ago. It really doesn’t seem like it was that long ago but I guess we were watching these back in the Meandaur days!

Wow, that’s scary to think about!
