The opening minutes had me thinking this would be a good one for movie night. However, it gets a little sluggish in the middle before the gangbusters finale. Had forgotten Tak was in this but nice to revisit for my project bc this is a fun movie that probably wouldn’t be made today given all the awful high school violence. Altho who knows in Japan. It’s wild to watch this now.
Aya Matsuura is great as Saki the Sukeban Deka. A shame she didn’t go on to work more as an actor. She has terrific screen presence. Riki Takeuchi is p fun here but a little depressing to hear him called middle aged (he was 42). Tak is wasted in a bit role here as a cool henchman. Definitely needed more of him kicking ass.

Might need to borrow this one from you given the same director did X-CROSS.
