Kept the DKUTV Akira Takarada celebration broadcast on for this one since I hadn’t seen it in a while but after it started I thought I did watch this this either last year or the year before and just didn’t log it. It’s way too familiar and no way it’s been 4 years since I’ve seen this. Josef usually schedules once or twice a year (for either Takarada or Mie Hama).
Anyways, this is what I meant by Takarada usually taking these hero or nice guy type of roles in my Wandering Notebook comments. Super charismatic and perfect as the spy or secret agent he’s playing here.
This is rip from the Janus / Criterion stream but I really wish these (this and Golden Eyes) would get a proper restoration and home media release.
