Viewing Notes

Not reinventing the wheel here but I had fun. I love that this is set in Milwaukee. Now I want to go to Milwaukee and revisit my old stomping grounds.

This is Scott Adkins movie starring Ke Huy Quan instead of Adkins. It makes the movie more entertaining bc of that. Nothing against Adkins obviously bc he would’ve been great in this movie (has that Debt Collectors / Accident Man vibe). Just super fun to see Ke Huy Quan as an ass-kicking leading man, which gets a full point bump. I dunno what critics* wanted from this; it’s precisely what the trailer advertises. Slight, silly and fun, again like those aforementioned Adkins’ joints. Ah well. I enjoyed this and would 100 percent own it bc I love Quan.

This is weird thing for me now but I cannot stop analyzing the kitchen cabinets in movies. This one in particular bc there are new homes for sale and the kitchen is obviously fake and the entire thing is built on a sound stage but it’s amusing to me. Same for Marvin’s townhome, that kitchen looks amazing but there is so much space between the range and island you could drive a car through there. Love that Drew Scott from the Property Brothers is the rival real estate agent. Fun casting.

I teared up when Sean Astin appears and shares a scene with Hu Quan. “Goonies never say die!”

*Had a 22% TR rating so I did the CinemaScore® survey afterwards and gave the movie the highest possible ratings. I rarely do the CinemaScore® survey.
