Opening night for the American run and of course I had to be there. Fortunately Muvico opened another screen after the 7:30 show sold out (didn’t want to do the 10pm).
Surprised how much more I enjoyed this viewing over the first two viewings in Japan. Probably having subtitles helped I’m sure in addition to knowing what to expect. I still find the conclusion to be a bit of a letdown as I feel there could be more tension and action leading up to Godzilla’s demise.
The talky parts didn’t seem nearly as long now that I know what they are saying during all those moments. Pretty happy with how close I was in my review of the film not knowing most of that.
This viewing did make me want to revisit Evangelion again. Maybe I should watch the feature length films. Only downside to this screening were the dipshits talking including one guy on this phone during most of the movie. He even took a fucking phone call! JFC
