Overview

Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships are sunk near Odo Island. An expedition to the island led by Dr. Yemani soon discover something far more devastating than imagined in the form of a 50 meter tall monster whom the natives call Gojira. Now the monster begins a rampage that threatens to destroy not only Japan, but the rest of the world as well.

Viewing Notes

First film in the second double feature, this double a tribute to the late Akira Takarada who passed away earlier this year. Incredible to see in the Mega-Theatre. I will always love the scene where Takarada’s Ogata plans to ask Emilio’s father (Takeshi Shimura) for permission to marry her then has a disagreement with him over what should be done with Godzilla and her father tells him to het out of his home. Classic!
