Viewing Notes

The sci-fi / horror series that was once at The Portage has moved over to Des Plaines Theatre. I skipped the last one but wanted to hit this one since it had a couple of movies I wanted to see on the big screen (even if they were shot off DVD). This was the first of the two and one I’ve seen on the big screen before (6 years ago at G-Fest) and it’s one of my favorite Honda films. Really it’s a better movie on the big screen and with a crowd.

I adore both the leading ladies Linda Miller and Mie Hama. Akira Takarada is also here and he’s great. I think Hideyo Amamoto as Dr. Who is pretty fantastic. This is such a weird movie b/c it features one of the worst big screen King Kong renderings along side one of the best in Mecha-Kong. Clearly not one of Honda’s best films but one I’m more nostalgic for and truly love.

Now if I could find the Japanese version and possible a Blu I’d be set.
